Renovation in Marousi

The apartment is located in the area of Marousi, in the northern suburbs of Athens. The initial concept of the design was based on the search for a childlike atmosphere and the calmness of life outside the center of Athens. A selection of soft colours, materials and items was made, intertwining with off-white colours. The light reflects harmoniously in a sunny house in the nature of the northern suburbs of Athens, highlighting a pleasant calmness.

The shapes seek a synthetic play within the space. Maintaining this mood, the staircase follows the aesthetic patterns of the ironworks in Athenian interwar modern buildings, that we are delighted to observe. The glass blocks are positioned in a way to redefine their use as light condensers, while the kitchen cabinets look as if they are hanging by strings from the ceiling.
The floor plan is unified. The living room, kitchen and library spaces interweave harmoniously into a single unit. The kitchen opens up to the library, maintaining a dominant role, while the library interacts with the living room and the fireplace.

The construction materials, chosen to highlight the architectural concept, are wood (natural and painted), metal that composes the stair railings and glass panels that allow light to pass peacefully through the apartment. Finally, the interplay between the use of space, the colours and the materials, seeks to impart a pleasant functionality to the apartment.
